The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time issue (Issue #937  December 11, 2003) had several listings of note. My personal opinion (I can still have one of those, since this is my site and the internet isn't owned by Transparent Channel yet) is that lists like this are entirely subjective. And that Rolling Stone is basically a big glossy advertisement for pop culture, which is about as meaningful as nipples on a boar hog. But I digress. This list was quite good, actually, and very informative. Pleasant surprises amongst virtually everything The Beatles and Dylan ever did (brilliant stuff but obligatory, and no surprise) and the expected Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and (c)rap "artists" included lots of Hendrix, The Doors, some great jazz and Grateful Dead, Santana, stoner rock like Black Sabbath, plenty of Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, and...

#40 Forever Changes (Love)
#101 Fresh Cream (Cream)
#112 Disraeli Gears (Cream)
#121 Moby Grape (Moby Grape)
#146 Surrealistic Pillow (Jefferson Airplane)
#189 Happy Trails (Quicksilver Messenger Service)
#243 Freak Out! (Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention)
#203 Wheels Of Fire (Cream)
#296 We're Only In It For The Money (Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention)
#338 Cheap Thrills (Big Brother & the Holding Company)
#370 Volunteers (Jefferson Airplane)
#486 Maggot Brain (Funkadelic)

How cool is that? I mean, we can't really expect Vincebus Eruptum or Mass In F-Minor or Beast's first album on there... though they'd definitely be on mine.

congratulates all who made it on the list, especially the psychedelic guitar slingers. And thank YOU Rolling Stone, for keeping some semblance of credibility about this list.
